Anthropic describes Projects as self-contained workspaces with their own chat histories and knowledge bases. Users can upload documents and define project instructions. Eligible paid plans can use enhanced project knowledge with retrieval when the collection grows beyond the normal context path.

Choose Claude Projects for reusable knowledge context

Projects fit when you want Claude to repeatedly discuss the same body of material:

  • a product handbook;
  • a research collection;
  • writing style and background material;
  • an ongoing planning topic;
  • a set of documents that should inform several chats.

The convenience is that project context and instructions remain attached to later conversations. The main interaction is still the Claude project chat experience.
